White Phosphorus bursts into flames in the air. Red phosphorus is like the red striking surface in matches. Black phosphorus is produced when white and red phosphorus is heated under preasure.

White phosfurs burst into flames. Red ones are like the red striking surface on a matchbox. black is produced when white and red are heated together.
