Elctronegativity is the ability of an atom to attract the electrons in a chemical bond. Electronegativity increases going from left to right along a period. It deacreas going down a group.

By definition, electronegativity is the tendancy for an element to indicate the relative ability of its atoms to attract eletrons in a chemical bond. The values for most of the elements are caculated based upon a number of factors, and are expressed in terms of a numerical value of 3.98 or less. The lowerst electronegativities are found at the lower left side of the periodic table and the highest are found at the upper right (except for noble gases).

Electronegativity is when an electron as teh ability of an atom to attract the electrons in a bond. It decreases as you go down and increases as you go left to right.
