We did that lab so we could get introduced to the basics of chemisty. They had to do with solutions and different materials. We do simple labs to start out the year and get used to it.
It was to teach us when you heat something up then it will stretch. It also teaches us when you cool it down it will contract. The Water taught us that the detergent attracts to grease but not oil and it helps clean dishes. It is so we get into the flow of doing labs and then we will start hard ones.
The point of the easy lab was to get into the flow of basic chemistry. The labs showed a little about what solutions will be like in chemistry. We start with simple labs to get back into the flow of things.

This way we could be more comfortable doing labs. It's good to start with basic labs about basic chemistry otherwise it just wouldnt be good. We also had to learn how to fill out our lab books for the first time so that took time and was easier to do w/ a simple lab.
The point of having an easy lab was to get into chemistry. Start with a small thing and keep working up to harder things. We learned how heat makes things it will expands and when in gets cooler it goes back.
