  3. Tonegawa Susumu is a Japanese scientist who won the Nobel Prize for Physicology and Medicine in 1987. He was known for "his discovery of the genetic principle for generation of antibody diversity." This basically means he figured out how anitbodies worked and how to use them to help our body fight infection better.

Hes won many awards including the Cloetta Prize of Foundation Professor Dr. Max Cloetta, Switzerland (1978), Warren Triennial Prize of the Massachusetts General Hospital, U.S.A. (1980), Genetics Grand Prize of Genetics Promotion Foundation, Japan (1981) and many others.
